Aloha United Way and Hawai‘i Data Collaborative Launch Enhanced 211 Dashboard

We shared in a blog post earlier this year that we partnered with Aloha United Way (AUW) to upgrade the data system supporting the 211 Helpline. We took up this effort to ensure the data collected on the anonymous calls to the 211 Helpline are accurate, and can be reliably leveraged to understand the areas in which Hawai‘i residents are struggling with – such as housing, food, utilities, healthcare, etc. – in near real-time.

With the upgrade complete and the data platform stabilized, we are excited to announce the launch of an enhanced AUW 211 Dashboard that will be updated weekly.

Users can specify date range and filter the data by region, displaying caller request data for the entire state or a specific county. Requests are broken down by primary category and subcategory, listing the top categories of need for which callers are seeking assistance. Users also have the option to view a breakdown by gender and age group for demographic insight.

When a primary category is selected, the Weekly Requests Over Time section displays a chart comparison between total requests and requests for the selected category, while the bottom section displays a map of requests for the same category by zip code, as well as a list of the top zip codes with the highest rates of requests.

We welcome you to explore this tool, and leverage the data for insight to better understand the areas in which Hawai‘i families are struggling the most, so we can do better to get them the help they need.
